The Night Is Dark and Full of Terrors

This is definitely the most daring outfit I have ever posted on my blog and it took some courage to leave the house dressed like this, but I had this look in mind for Halloween, so nothing could stop me :) It's really strange how the human mind works... If I was wearing a one piece swimsuit, no one would consider my look particularly sensual or extraordinary, but since I wore a bodysuit covered by a mesh dress, it suddenly becomes a borderline fetish outfit. By the way, this dress look very normal and chaste on the hanger - which is why I bought it in the first place - but in the right (or should I say wrong?) light it becomes completely transparent, as you can see. I wore it only once before, to a party in L.A., and it has been packed away in my wardrobe ever since...until now.

Sky Blue and Beige

It's slowly but surely getting chillier here in Florence and all I want to do is wrap myself up in a cozy cardi and drink tea with butter cookies. Yum. Speaking of cozy sweaters, I got myself quite a few new ones, including this asymmetrical hem number from Choies which I'm literally wearing day and night right now. Today I wore it with a pair of bootcut jeans, suede ankle boots and a powder blue silk scarf. Taking these pictures was quite a challenge, because it was incredibly windy and I ended up with both my hair and my scarf flapping in my face... that is until we found this lovely wind-free location - the courtyard of an abandoned villa. They came out pretty decent in the end. What do you think? ;)

Halloween Special

Halloween has always fascinated me. As a born and raised European girl I first caught glimpses of it watching Hollywood movies and I thought of it as this mysterious and scary foreign holiday when kids get lots of candy and serial killers are most active. Needless to say, today my vision is a little different: I admire Halloween, because once a year it allows people to make fun of death in the most incredibly creative ways! Of course, Halloween would be nothing without the costumes, the candy and the decorations. Whether you prefer to celebrate with a fun outfit, a wild party, or cozy up with a good book and some treats, I’m sure you’ll love my selection of handmade Halloween favorites as much as I do.

Little Black Dress

This is the outfit I wore for dinner on Sunday night. A little black dress is truly a girl's best friend, especially when you have little time to get ready. Just throw on a few statement accessories and you're good to go! I really love this necklace made up of several different chains - it instantly adds a rock chic touch to anything. I have to admit one thing though: the cleavage of this dress wasn't originally this deep. There used to be a piece of black fabric covering it, which I promptly eliminated, because I thought it looked way too modest that way... What do you guys think? :)

Handmade Fall Essentials

Ok, so maybe these are not - strictly speaking - essentials, but they would definitely be wonderful additions to any girl's wardrobe (or home). I, for one, would love to own all of these amazing items I found on Etsy, from these gorgeous handmade fall shoes to the super cozy home décor. If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I really enjoy browsing this website, because I never fail to find unique and beautifully made things from artisans from all over the world. I hope you like this selection and I'd love to know which items are your favorites!

Casual Warrior

Coat season has officially started here in Florence and even though it's not that cold yet and some tourists are still wearing flip flops, I prefer to keep warm, especially in the evening when it can get really chilly (Tuscany-chilly, not Canada-chilly, but still). In these pictures I'm wearing my brand new Choies coat, which slightly reminds me of the gear of Mongolian warriors with its leather straps and wide lapels and I really love its original style and how soft and cozy it feels.

Esqido Love

Esqido Voila Lash

You might remember this post where I showed you my very first pair of Esqido mink lashes. It was love at first sight and I am pleased to inform you that we are still going strong, two months and multiple wears - parties, meetings and photo shoots - later (Esqido lashes can be worn up to 25 times!). That first time I chose the BFF, an amazingly beautiful yet completely undetectable model, which I can wear any day of the week, morning or evening, but this time around I opted for two of the more daring Esqido designs: the Voila Lash (above) and the Lashlorette.

Plum and Lemon

Purple and yellow are complimentary colors and as such they go really well together. Pairing such intense colors in one outfit takes a certain amount of courage, but once you get a hold of it, it's actually really fun. Fall doesn't necessarily have to be the time of rain and depression - just think of all the fun layers and accessories you can wear! For today's look I chose a lemon yellow pencil skirt (new in from Choies.com), a purple buttonless cardi, a corset bodysuit and a black turban (also from Choies). I also wore my brand new bamboo prescription glasses by Takemoto (I do need them, in case you were wondering. I just wear contacts most of the time) and a pair of Fendi sandals. Only when I was going through my pictures did I realize how well the leopard pattern of the glasses goes with the tortoiseshell heel and straw details of the shoes. I guess I'm starting to develop a certain instinct for pairing things ;)

Floral Midi Skirt for Fall

This is my first outfit post - out of three - where I show you the super pretty things sent to me by Choies. I was really looking forward to receiving my package of goodies and when I finally got my hands on it, it was even better than I had expected! I've been looking for a pretty full midi skirt for ages and when I put on this dark green floral beauty here, I knew I had found The One. It is such a statement piece, that I decided to wear it with all black everything, including this floppy wool fedora, again, courtesy of Choies (you can actually get it for free now with any order over $79!). My husband totally loves it, and so do I, it's so stylish and ladylike, don't you find?
